Wedding at Palacio de Hoyuelos {Fray & Javi}

Back in 2013 I had the opportunity to photograph my first wedding at Palacio de Hoyuelos and then I was amazed by the beautiful Renaissance palace, its gardens and the surrounding natural environment. And furthermore, being in the same rooms where Fernando Fernán Gómez walked through in “The Spirit of the Beehive” film gives it an extra kick.

Fray and Javi contacted me at the beginning of 2020 and their wedding was planned for June of that same year. What happened in those months is known to all: pandemic, confinement, uncertainty, changes in dates and plans, etc. In addition, Fray’s family was traveling from outside of Spain, which complicated even more the logistics.

The good thing is that during postponements his beautiful daughter arrived to the world and she was lucky enough to be at her parents’ wedding 😀

The day of the wedding finally arrived and dawned with a radiant morning. It was a day full of family gatherings, marked by raw emotions and, above all, by an enormous desire to enjoy a long-awaited and desired wedding.

I enjoyed from minute one to the end of the day a festive and exciting atmosphere, in which I was able to move happily doing what I like the most: documenting stories of happiness.

And since images are more my thing than words, I leave here how Fray herself experienced it (a million thanks for those beautiful words). And here is a small selection of some of my favorite photographs of the day:

“When Javi proposed to me we had no idea what was coming, it was on our anniversary in 2019, we said that by the summer of 2020 we would have an intimate wedding with family and closest friends. What happened in between? We already had bought a dress, booked the venue and almost all the vendors, a pandemic came and changed the plans, and so much so that in the meantime we bought a house and had our first daughter.

Since we already knew Sergio and we really liked his style, we asked him to do the pregnancy session, so we had that first contact with his lens and we were amazed with the result. The session ran smooth and the result was awesome. So we were looking forward to the arrival of the new wedding date.

This is how our dream weekend arrived, a clear day dawned with a beautiful sun, that morning in the preparations, there are usually a lot of nerves, but we were confident, calm, enjoying the moment, because we knew we had the best team with us and everything it would be great.

Sergio was at every moment, but his presence was barely noticeable, yes, when he saw my father in trouble with the boutonniere, he was there to help.

Our wedding was very emotional, we had not seen the family that lives outside of Spain for a long time, after all this time we could finally meet and hug each other, when we saw the pictures we were amazed because Sergio was able to capture every moment, every emotion, every hug and every tear Sergio has the gift to capture the emotion in an image, it was a real luck to have Sergio with us, so that, as he himself says, he could tell our story.

Every time we see the photos of the wedding, a smile jumps out at us, we relive the emotions just as we lived them because they are captured with his special art.”
